You Have A Question, Here's The Answer

some are debt-free already!
Paula writes:
I have a question:
After coming out of debt (everything paid off and no more debts),
what do I do now? Yes, prayer would be the obvious answer.
But I am talking about the practical side of it.
Do I make lists or what? How do I budget, and so on?
What do I do that will lead me to be in a better financial
position than I am now? How do I move on?
Any help, comment, would be appreciated!

FF explains further:
I am reading the debt e-course and realised the value
of financial discipline. In the e-course elisha lists
instant gratification as a serious debt accelerator.
Now my question to everyone is what practical suggestions
have you applied to enhance financial discipline and they worked?
Fellow Prayer Archivers, let's learn from each other,
by tapping into these wise nuggets!

Then the Eagles chimed in.
Sarah says:
Glory be to God for setting you free of the burden of debt!
I would set serious financial goals and see a financial planner.
Goal setting includes: Savings (for emergencies), tithing,
minimum personal expenses, investments for the future.
To stay consistent in any of those requires discipline and prayers.
JC adds:
What has worked for me and my wife in terms of financial discipline...
is openness about our incomes and making one budget.
PM says:
What has worked for me is avoiding buying stuff on credit -
clothes, furniture, etc.
NY adds:
1. Choose to remain debt free by relooking at spending patterns or
activities that led you into debt in the first place.
That way you will chose to do things differently
2. Live within your means - and avoid at all costs impulse buying.
Only buy what you really need and not because its nice/appealing to the eye.

FA agrees:
I have already started budgeting by faith, as the Holy Spirit
is guiding me now, how I will spend/spread out my finances.
